The New Year Celebrations

Happy New Year everyone!

I didn't go out on Hogmanay because I never managed to secure a ticket for the Lemon Tree and I really don't drink in any of the other bars. I don't really think it was a good idea to make it a private night - not on that night of all nights! Anyway, that's by the by as they say - or should that be 'bye the bye'?

I had planned to go up the square at midnight to get the grapes and champagne but it was cold,windy and wet so I decided on a quiet night in.
I'm told there was nothing free handed out this year because THE COUNCIL HAVE NO MONEY!!

Yeah well, that maybe explains why they are cheating some people on their water supplies - the money-grabbing bastards! That'll be more money for the alcalde to line his pockets with!

What's the matter? The collapse of the building industry here in Spain means they have less backhanders?

You know I was speaking to the priest the other day, and for the first time he is finding families in need of food handouts. Spanish families I presume, but there really is a recession on and it is affecting everybody - well not those that work for the council of course.

What's the betting the family in dire straits had to pay a big water bill first? eh? That's a thought!
